6 benefits of inhalations

Do you have a runny nose, cough, dry throat and a stuffy nose? Home inhalations are an excellent way to help yourself with these common symptoms. And for people with chronic diseases such as asthma, inhalations are an integral part of the treatment process.

In fact, most people associate nebulizers precisely with asthma and as a way to control respiratory attacks for this often-chronic disease.

1. Nebulizers also help with several other conditions (including colds)

Nebulizers are useful in practically every home, as they are an excellent way to quickly and easily help ourselves with respiratory diseases. They relieve sinusitis, have a soothing effect on coughs, help to liquefy secretions in a stuffy nose and ensure calmer breathing.

Even when we use them without special medications, just with a normal physiological solution, the inhalations act quickly and moisten the mucous membrane of the respiratory tract. In mild laryngitis, as well as throat irritation caused by dust particles, inhalations can be a sufficient means to immediately improve your condition.

2. Inhaled medications reach the lungs directly

During inhalations, the medication or solution is delivered directly to the lungs. This not only guarantees efficiency but also minimises unwanted side effects when using stronger drugs/medications. The reason why? When these medications are inhaled directly, they do not need to be taken in the form of syrups or tablets.

This is why on a global level, inhalations are believed to reduce treatment costs. Through the inhalations, treatment is fast and targeted. In many cases, patients have the opportunity to control unpleasant symptoms and ailments at home, without constant visits to the doctor’s office and taking additional drugs.

3. They are an appropriate method of treatment for infants and children

Fortunately nebulizers have practically no side effects. This makes them a suitable method for treating a range of respiratory symptoms in children and adults.

You will certainly appreciate this if you are a parent of young children. While their immune systems are still developing, little ones can develop a viral infection about ten times each year. Children in kindergartens are known to more frequently get sick from viruses that affect the respiratory tract. This is when home inhalations can immensely help reduce those painful coughs and runny noses. The faster we take measures, the easier it is to manage and heal from an upper respiratory tract infection (1).

The problem with some nebulizers can be the noise that comes from the machine, which can make younger children scared or uncomfortable. This is where Zano Inspire comes in handy – a nebulizer specially designed to be quiet (55 decibels) and compact. It comes with child friendly stickers to personalise your machine and can be used by the whole family (an adult mask and a children’s mask are included) and is easy to take on trips due to its small size!

4. They provide moistening of the mucous membrane

Indoor air (especially when the air conditioner is on) can lead to dryness and irritation in the throat. When the mucous membranes of the nasopharynx and respiratory tract are dry, this makes them more vulnerable to viruses.

This is another scenario in which inhalations can be extremely effective, thanks to the warm steam they emit which provide a moisturizing and soothing effect. To maximise the efficiency of inhalations, make sure to avoid talking and keeping your voice down for about half an hour after the procedure

5. They provide rapid relief of symptoms

For patients with asthma, nebulizers and inhalations are especially important.

In a scenario where patients are in the midst of an attack or feel their triggers onsetting, through inhalations the fast-acting medications can reach the airways directly and relax their walls to facilitate easier breathing.

Another scenario in which they can provide fast relief, can be for a person experiencing shortness of breath with a persistent dry cough (acute laryngitis). This is where at home inhalations help by moistening the throat and providing quick relief.

6. They are suitable for treatment at home

A popular home treatment method, inhalations provide comfort and peace.

If you or someone in your family suffers from frequent respiratory infections or breathing difficulties, being able to quickly manage symptoms at home is indispensable. By buying a compact nebulizer, you can safely and easily put it in your luggage to take with you for any occasion.

To get the most out of inhalations, you should first consult your doctor and ask them the following questions: How often should you use a nebulizer given your complaints? What medications or solutions should you purchase for your given complaints? Talking to a specialist ensures that you are ready to handle any unpleasant symptoms and unexpected illnesses quickly and easily from the comfort of your home.
